Call Me MISTER

The Swinney's Connection...

Dabo's All In Team Foundation supports the Call Me MISTER® Initiative in honor of Jeff Davis.  Jeff Davis was the former field director for Call Me MISTER® and is the current Assistant Athletic Director of Football Player Relations and founder of PAW Journey at Clemson.

About Call Me MISTER®...

Call Me MISTER® was founded in 2000 by Clemson, Claflin, Benedict and Morris colleges and has since expanded to almost 30 colleges and universities across South Carolina.  The program also has national partner schools in 11 other states.  The mission of Call Me MISTER® (acronym for Mentors Instructing Students Toward Effective Role models) is to increase the pool of available teachers from a broader more diverse background, particularly among South Carolina's lowest performing elementary schools. Student participants are largely selected from underserved, socio-economically disadvantaged, and educationally at-risk communities.

The Call Me MISTER® program at Clemson is based out of the Eugene T. Moore School of Education and combines teacher education with co-curricular programs.  The programs include retreats, seminars, academic support, mentoring, a summer institute, internships and volunteer opportunities. Participants in the program are referred to as "MISTERs" and live/study together as cohorts.  Participants also have the opportunity to receive tuition assistance through loan forgiveness programs as well as help with job placement.  For more information on Clemson's Call Me MISTER® program, check out this feature in Clemson World Magazine
