Breast Cancer Research: Susan G. Komen for the Cure
Objective

Raise funds annually for the Susan G. Komen for the Cure. The goal is to provide funds that will be used for promoting early cancer screening, detection and continued research. The Swinney extended family has experienced first hand the battle with breast cancer. The Foundation will work hand in hand to make the fight easier for the next family.

Funding

Funds will be provided on a annual basis from the Foundation. The Foundation and the Dabo Swinney Camp LLC will host a Ladies Football Clinic on a Saturday each July. The objective of the clinic will be to educate women on the strategy, rules, training, etc. of college football, promote the Clemson University Football program, and promote and educate attendees on early breast cancer screening, detection, and prevention. Funds will be raised through participation fee, donation, silent auction, and donated services and goods.

Coach Swinney conducted his first Ladies Football Clinic at Littlejohn Coliseum in Clemson on Saturday, July 25th. There were 1,020 attendees setting an all-time record for attendance. A third of each $45 registration fee paid was designated for breast cancer research, and a dollar-for-dollar match from Dabo’s All In Team Foundation doubled the amount. Partnering with Susan G. Komen for the Cure and Anderson’s AnMed Health, the clinic raised $30,600.

Diana Ivankovic representing Susan G. Komen said, “As a breast cancer survivor and a cancer researcher, I can assure you that every penny counts and it's a step further in the fight against breast cancer. I was touched and impressed by seeing so many ladies participate and willing to learn how to prevent and diagnose breast cancer at its earlier stage.

Lauren Barnett, AnMed Community Relations Coordinator said, “We just want to thank Coach Swinney for allowing us to participate in this event. We're as passionate about breast health as these ladies are about Clemson football. It was great to be able to provide education and resources about an issue that's as close to his heart as it is to ours.”
